How does one go about commissioning or licensing work from creative folks (musicians, digital artists) in a way that is fair to both? Any handy resources or guides? I'd rather not go to massive content-farm-factory websites.
For what it's worth I'm in need of some music for a technically minded #ActivityPub podcast idea I have floating in my head and what better way to support the Fediverse than to actually look at paying for a license for some intro music and B roll music.
Have you been thinking about making an app for the Librem 5 but didn't know where to start?
I wrote a tutorial blog post for getting started with designing apps for GNOME mobile (and desktop too).

hey @tootdon why do you have these trackers enabled? https://reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/reports/46870/
I love your app but these trackers are fucked up.
bruh I just learned that #Wallabag allows for publicly shared URIs! I'm just going to share those links versus direct ones for the sake of readability
I never lived on a college campus, but I had lots of friends that did. I spent a large portion of my late teens and early 20s in the Public Spaces that college campuses provide. Every building, it seemed, had a huge ground floor with tables and electricity and wifi, and some of them also had free coffee.
I imagine that this is what it would be like if we made libraries more focused on being community spaces, gave them longer hours, and encouraged socialization or events in the evenings.
While discussion with @dnegreira about #invoices and how I used in the past CRMstuite and now LibreOffice templates, I discovered the #InvoicePlane while listening to their podcast. First impressions: looks pretty cool!

The Linux Foundation yesterday launched the Enabling Linux in Safety Applications (ELISA) open source project to create a shared set of tools and processes to help companies build and certify Linux-based safety-critical applications and systems whose failure could result in loss of human life, significant property damage or environmental damage.
I love the idea of the #fediverse, where there are all these different services that can all talk and share stuff on the same underlying framework.
The HUGE issue I'm having is I still have to make accounts on almost a dozen servers to be able to share different kinds of content. #Pixelfed for images, #mastodon for short messages, #Plume for blogging, and now #prismo for reddit-esk news.
Whatever happened to federated logins like #OpenID that let me use my main to sign into other sites? 🤔😓
Have you considered contributing to #OpenStreetMaps? It's like Wikipedia but for maps - a map that everybody can edit! Today, the NSW Address Import project added thousands of addresses for West Pennant Hills, Warrawee, and West Pymble.
If you know those areas, check it out and start mapping!
I have been using simplenote this past year or so and it's quite a simple and yet cool note taking appthat stays out of the way. Nevertheless, inspired by one of Lunduke's videos, I decided to look for an alternative where I have more control over the actual data (preferably txt) and yet with features I miss on simplenote (subnotes/subpages, images, tables, tasks...) and I rediscovered #zimdesktop on my old favorites! It has been a blast! Easy to use and saves txt that I can syncthing with phone
The price of the ticket is worth it! MLT and FFmpeg make video-editing software like Kdenlive, Shotcut, and many others, possible. #ilovefs
