Just made a friend try Mastodon, he's called @IIGX
His English is a bit rough, though.
"...what is really at work here is the default prejudice against bottom-up self-organization without a profit motive." https://write.as/eloquence/why-mastodon-and-the-fediverse-are-doomed-to-fail
Oh btw, I just finished making the first good-ish version of my website. https://pages.codeberg.org/scupake
So I attempted to try and make basic website with #html but I ended up giving myself a headache. How do people do this stuff lol.
I find it deeply upsetting that children tend to favor closed-source platforms that have glaring security and privacy holes. Look at Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Discord. I have lost all respect for Discord, because I care about my privacy online.
It's sad to see all the work put into open-source privacy-conscious platforms almost ignored by the younger generation. I believe we need to educate them to choose the safer alternatives to 'mainstream' social media. Take Mastodon, for example.
I have a website, it has all my info and contact stuff.
