I wired the brick up as a very small external monitor, so you can, for instance, play Doom on it.

I've used GNU/Linux almost exclusively since 1998, on servers since 2k.
Since, modern civilisation has come to depend deeply on GNU/Linux, so much so GNU tool command syntax can't be changed because it would break scripts everywhere

One of many examples is `wc`, a tool for counting words/lines/bytes/chars in files. Here, the author chose the -m flag for characters, rather than -c, -c for bytes rather than -b, resulting in a dissonance felt by millions akin to exceptions in any natural language

I filmed this sand storm at 20h30 in #LeHavre tonight. With the extreme winds, the temperature dropped by 15°C in just minutes, everyone paniqued, it was quite terrifying.

From the view of a city boy: @emfcamp@twitter.com was great even with the rain and showers.

There is much to be said for developer/engineer vanity playing into the 'tech as magic' trope. From the workplace to the tech art exhibition it pays very well.

I've succumbed to the feelgood of being told that something I've made seems like "magic". In truth there is nothing unethical about inducing such wonder, as it is the seed of curiosity. It's the choice that's then made - to withhold or to open up - which counts, one decisive to nurturing a broader techno-political & technical literacy

This is kind of funny. In Stranger Things 4 they apparently wanted to show some old HTML in a "hacking" scene, so they apparently looked up an old site on the @waybackmachine@twitter.com but accidentally ended up copying over the injected navigation panel instead of the actual page content

been wondering what the deal is with this "revision" thing I keep posting about? well it's time for an off-the-cuff introduction to ✨demoparties✨

street harrassment

"The other day my cousin was taking a picture of me and a prepubescent boy on a bike shouted out 'you are never, ever gonna be a model, love, you’re too ginger.'

This was fairly weird as I don’t have ginger hair and a factually inaccurate assumption coz there are loads of ginger models obvs but ...

like, where have you developed the confidence already, in your 10 years on this planet, to shout at a grown woman about her appearance in public?"

Incredible to live in a time where decline - rather than thriving and abundance - is broadly accepted as normal, 'just how things are'.

In the brief time I've been alive I've felt a tangible shift in public ontology and outlook, at least in the cultures I participate and am literate in.

Rather than opening, 'futuring' increasingly takes the wedge form. This will have to change, toward fresh ambitions centering non-destructive growth as a function of adaptation & change.
