Hey fedi, I’m considering moving my videos away from Vimeo and simply include them in the gitlab repo I use for my website instead, using git lfs. Then embed them in my Hugo site with a simple html5 video tag. Has anybody done something similar? What are the pitfalls? How would I make the result work dynamically on mobile and desktop? So many questions....

@kf I did this on endquote.com using ffmpeg to make HLS files and hls.js for playback. The video chunks are just delivered as regular static files.

@endquote Interesting approach. I'm giving peertube a go for now, but I'd be very happy to get dirty with a bit of bash to be able to keep all my media in one place later on...
