Fantastic talk by Joseph White on the motivations for the PICO-8 fantasy console. I love the attention to how the process of designing and coding should feel (cozy, inviting).

Are there examples of software that embed data in images (like encoded in the pixel values)? I think at some point I read about console developers doing it as a memory hack? Googling mostly turns up info on image stenography which is not exactly what I want.

Working on moving tiles within a tree (using i3wm as a model). A thorny negotiation between the data structure, what _feels_ right, and avoiding a bunch of special-case code.

If you want to read more about the design and code I wrote up some release notes: writing.grantcuster.com/posts/

As always, I'd love to see anything you make with it.
