Currently, the Uncomics website and podcast is run out of pocket by @haverholm — even editing the print anthology was unpaid work.

If you appreciate the work that goes into uncomics.org, as well as this account, please consider a recurring donation 🙏

There, I caved and registered the Uncomics podcast with Google and Apple:

The Uncomics website + podcast do not have a social media or SEO strategy other than good folks like you sharing them by word of mouth.

I think it's a worthwhile cause and, frankly, overdue that are considered in terms of (and vice versa).

You recommending the site and podcast to the visual arts weirdo in your life goes a long way. Thank you!

If anybody is tempted to do #fedi #30dayscomics but get knocked down by their inner critic and perceived skills at drawing, I'll be happy to debunk those 🙂

Anyways, 30 days of comics isn't about making perfect copies of whatever you pick up at the #comics or book store. It's a fun exercise to put images together for a whole month.

Let's try and transplant a good thing from Twitter for once! Who's up for a #fediverse 30 Days of Comics this year?

It's pretty simple, you make one comic a day (page or strip, your choice) during November, post them as you go to your preferred #fedi instance and tag them #30dayscomics.

That's it really, but you can read more here: "What is 30 Days of Comics?"

There's really only a brief mention of Sting's tantric sex advocacy, but it was too absurd not to include in the episode description!

Show thread

Simon Russell and Gareth A Hopkins rejoin Uncomics host Allan Haverholm to discuss what really sets uncomics apart from, say, a Google image search.

Also in this episode: the “sound” of individual fonts, Sting’s sex life, and how a Finnish audience might be more open to uncomics performances.

Just bought myself a copy of un/comics 56/57 and looking forward to receiving it! hybriden.se/en/hybriden/ @haverholm

There is no new Uncomics episode this week, because weekly schedules are for suckers. The podcast comes out at a pseudo-decadiurnal frequency, which means every ten days, sort of.

The Uncomics podcast will be back next Monday for a three-way roundtable with returning artists Simon Russell and Gareth A Hopkins!

With yesterday's release of the seventh Uncomics podcast episode, we're at the midpoint of the season! That means there are still *as many* great artist talks left as you've already had 🙂

As I say in the admin segment of the podcast, if you appreciate my work on it and the Uncomics site, consider supporting it with a small, recurring donation via Liberapay: liberapay.com/Uncomics/donate

I don't expect a working wage out of this, but it would be nice if at some point donations could carry the server costs 👍

Simon Russell is a man of many hats in the British comics scene — (un)comics creator, editor, graphic designer, and more.

In this episode of the Uncomics podcast, he talks to host @haverholm about miscolouring Garfield, setting comics on a chemical formula, using the ashes of his own burnt works in paint to make new work, and putting a highly collectible comic book into a concrete slab.

1. Make headway editing a future episode of the Uncomics podcast.

2. Realise it's time to publish a new one. Close future episode file to add music and intro speak to that.

3. Open the work file for the episode in between those to grab a preview soundbyte.

4. Adjust music levels + timing. Export older episode to MP3.

5. Listen back to add show notes. Publish.

6. Try to remember where I was in the future episode I'm still not finished editing.

Repeat every ten days.

Weekly reminder that you can support my work on Liberapay: liberapay.com/haverholm

I currently receive ¢25 a week from one supporter, which I greatly appreciate. I know it's hard to find a margin of your budget to share with others. My own work life has fluctuated between paid projects and periods of low or no income.

I currently focus my efforts on the Uncomics site and podcast after a couple of years' busy unemployment. If you enjoy my work, consider setting up a recurring micro donation. 🙏
