Regdar and the Fighters
I'm late, but my #piday hot take is that pi actually has only about 70 digits.

That's the maximum number of significant digits you can have when doing geometry to planck length precision at size of the universe scale.

Any attempt to include more digits is just intentionally introducing inaccuracy to your results

The FreeDOS Project
If you're curious about last week's #PiDay article that used a FreeDOS program to "measure" π by counting pixels, here's a follow-up.

It's about how to write an academic journal article in groff— but really, it was an excuse to explain why the method gives π=2.828 🤓

https://technicallywewrite.com/2025/03/18/academic

Short version: it measures a square inside the circle, so the best you can get is 8cos(π/4) or π=2✓2

*Could be explained better, but the diagrams look really nice! 🤣

CW Wilkie
Went out to Dave the Pie Guy for a slice of pie. Didn't get one, but this time it was my fault: they sold out in the morning.

Tonight I drove out in the encroaching thunderstorm to the nice grocery store, and they were also completely sold out. But they had a BOGO on pizzas (which some elements call a "pie"), so I got a couple high-end frozen pizzas, if that's not an oxymoron.

Just to be sure, I swung by the grocery store my wife doesn't like, and they were fully stocked with pies. No sales, just a sign acknowledging #PiDay, but I came home with half a cherry pie, two hours before EOD.
